On February 10, 2013, The Huntington Beach Police Officers’ Association, Huntington Each Firefighter’s Association and City of Huntington Beach hosted the “Building to Remember” Gala for the Huntington Beach 911 Memorial. The Huntington Beach Hyatt hosted the event that drew about 500 guests. The guests that attended came from through out southern California, New Jersey and New York.
The event was put together to raise private funding for the Huntington Beach 911 Memorial. Many of the major donations came from local businesses within the City of Huntington Beach and surrounding areas. There was also a silent auction on various items that were donated by local businesses. The silent auction gave everyone an opportunity to participate at the event.
The guest speakers consisted of the following:
- Patrick Vogel (The designer and builder of the memorial.)
- Captian Kevin Devlin, Retired (New York City Fire Department)
- Arlene Howard (Mother of Officer George Howard, Part Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey)
- Firefighter Chris Howard (New York City Fire Department)
The Huntington Beach 911 Memorial is scheduled to be dedicated on September 11, 2013.

Huntington Beach 911 Memorial, “WE WILL NEVER FORGET”
On February 23, 2013, Patrick Vogel Designs Inc submitted a design(model) to the Huntington Beach Police Officers’ Foundation and the Huntington Beach Firefighters Association to build a 911 Memorial for the City of Huntington Beach. We are happy to announce that on May 10, 2012, Patrick Vogel Designs Inc was chosen to build the memorial from a large pool of artists and architects that submitted proposals.
The 911 Memorial will feature a marble base with two stainless steel towers and will incorporate two girders from the New York World Trade Center wreckage. The words “We Will Never Forget” will be etched along the base of the memorial.
The 911 Memorial will be placed outside the Huntington Beach City Hall building. The exact location will be determined in the beginning of 2013.
