14K Gold Nugget Mirror For Sale at the VOGEL SHOP


This incredibly unique gold nugget mirror consists of twenty-four 14-karat gold plated steel nuggets, welded from of 11-gauge cold rolled steel. Each nugget starts its life as a single flat piece of sheet steel. Each piece is painstakingly cut, welded and sanded to perfection prior to gold plating.

The nuggets are mounted to a 1/8” thick stainless steel frame which features internal stiffeners to maintain a straight surface for internal mirror mounting.

The mirror can be mounted vertically or horizontally. At 48” x 96”, the mirror has over $12,000 of gold plate and copper. With more than 900 hundred hours of labor invested, the mirror is one of Vogel’s most visually stimulating pieces.

Were you at the Re-Grand Opening for Orizaba Park and the unveiling of the sculpture piece, “The Train Has Left the Station”? If not, here is a short clip of the train being raised for the first time at the park.
Patrick Vogel – Artist of Record. Orizaba Park Project. This project was overseen by the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency. The location chosen for the sculpture was one of the stops of the former Red Line electric train that ran though several Southland communities. This sculpture stands 14 feet high, 10 feet wide, and is 3 feet thick.

Mark Bixby came from one of Long Beach’s founding families that once operated ranches throughout the area.  The Mark Bixby Memorial, “The Forming Wave” is a representation one of nature’s most incredible forces on earth.  The energy of the wave is a representation of the energy and spirit that Mark had for life.  “The Forming Wave” will be placed next to Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool (Long Beach, CA), which is currently under renovation. This facility is famous for the 1968 and 1976 U.S. Olympic Swim Trials as well as being used as a training site during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. “The Forming Wave” will be unveiled on August 9, 2012. The time has yet to be determined.
